In addition to writing, I love helping other people’s work be more of what it’s meant to be. I’ve been told that what I do with other people’s work goes beyond any definition of editing. The advice of some people whose work I’ve touched is to add “coach” to the description of what I am. The coaching includes a sense of what a book is really about, what’s missing to truly communicate the author’s message and, sometimes, places to promote that the author had not thought about.
I still love editing, however, as there’s something very satisfying about going through a manuscript, knowing my ability to proofread and to see details, inconsistencies, oddities or what’s missing in a fiction or nonfiction book, in a business or marketing piece, technical report or Web site can help that work say more clearly and accurately what the author meant to convey.
Book reviews are a great way to share my pleasure in reading, and I’m thinking about going back into the book reviewing world after a lengthy break. If you’re interested in a review, e-mail me with your genre and a very brief blurb and I’ll get right back to you.
If you have work in need of proofreading, copyediting, content editing or discussion, please e-mail me to check on my availability. I’d love to be able to work with you.
